Getting Started

The library offers access to databases on a wide variety of subjects. Just click the tab for the type of information you're looking for to see a list of the databases that will help you find it.

Several databases are licensed for use in Wyoming libraries only and require a password if you are not accessing these databases from within a library. To use these databases from home, provide your library card and PIN when they are requested.

  • Agricola (part of EBSCOHost) - Containing records from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Library. Coverage dates back to 1970 and includes more than 4.3 million citations. The citations are comprised of journal articles, monographs, theses, patents, software, audiovisual materials, and technical reports related to agriculture.
  • GreenFILE (part of EBSCOHost) - GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for approximately 295,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,600 records.

  • Ebsco Animals (part of EBSCOHost) - Provides in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The database consists of indexing, abstracts, and full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals.
  • Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia (Part of the Gale Virtual Reference Library) - A completely revised and updated version incorporating recent developments in the animal world as noted by prominent advisors and contributors from the scientific community.

  • Biography Resource Center - Search for people based on one or more personal facts such as birth and death year, nationality, ethnicity, occupation or gender, or combine criteria to create a highly-targeted custom search.
  • Current Biography Illustrated (part of Wilson Web) - Contains more than 15,000 full text biographies and more than 9,400 obituaries, with photographs, from 1940 to the present. The biographies are searchable by name, profession, title, place of origin, gender, race/ethnicity, titles of works, date of birth, date of death, keyword, and presence of images.

  • Wyoming Biography Database - Index to books that contain biographical profiles of Wyoming people. Currently, there are 7,128 entries from 22 books (most of these books are available through the interlibrary loan service of your local library). The late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries are best represented although there are some contemporary figures.
